Ultimate glossary of crypto currency terms, acronyms and abbreviations

I thought it would be really cool to have an ultimate guide for those new to crypto currencies and the terms used. I made this mostly for beginner’s and veterans alike. I’m not sure how much use you will get out of this. Stuff gets lost on Reddit quite easily so I hope this finds its way to you. Included in this list, I have included most of the terms used in crypto-communities. I have compiled this list from a multitude of sources. The list is in alphabetical order and may include some words/terms not exclusive to the crypto world but may be helpful regardless.

It is also the public key in a pair of keys needed to sign a digital transaction. Addresses can be shared publicly as a text or in the form of a scannable QR code. They differ between cryptocurrencies. You can’t send Bitcoin to an Ethereum address, for example.
Altcoin (alternative coin): Any digital currency other than Bitcoin. These other currencies are alternatives to Bitcoin regarding features and functionalities (e.g. faster confirmation time, lower price, improved mining algorithm, higher total coin supply). Each block also contains a complex mathematical puzzle with a unique answer, without which new blocks can’t be added to the chain.
Blockchain:
An unchangeable digital record of all transactions ever made in a particular cryptocurrency and shared across thousands of computers worldwide. It has no central authority governing it. Welcome to Q4

For Trading October 1st
Welcome to Q4
Rally Continues
Mega & Small Caps Rule the Day
Today’s market was very sloppy with the DJIA trading +260 to -120 and closing +36.20 (.13%), buoyed by BA, which at the high of the day had added 70 DP’s and finished nearer its low adding only 16. The biggest gainers for the day were V, a credit card company and WMT, the biggest retailer with 24 and 22 respectively. The real strength came from the NASDAQ, with the mega-caps +159 (1.42%) and the small-cap Russell +23.51 (1.56%). Interesting dichotomy. The S&P was somewhere in the middle +23.51 (.53%) and the Transports were -18.61 (.17%). Market internals 2:1 up on both, and volume was about 40% less than yesterday’s end of quarter numbers. With all the numbers this morning out of the way, tomorrow’s September employment numbers should set the tone.
Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows you to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. It is informative and allows me to share insights as the market is open and moving. The link is: https://discord.gg/ATvC7YZ and I will be there and active from before the open and all day. It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 3000 members. I also returned to my radio show today with a great live interview with the Chief Medical Officer of JANONE (JAN) and it was a great show. This is the link to the audio recording including my discussion of the market and the very exciting story of JAN’s phenomenal NON-OPIOID Pain Med! SECTORS: There wasn’t a lot of sector news, but we did have some more news on layoffs for airlines, and assorted companies across all industries from All State insurance to GS to Marathon Petroleum. This flies in the face of the government’s employment number and initial claims as well as anything they can point to show how well we are all doing. I’ve given up on thinking that these numbers are real, when I drive around town and see all the closed forever signs popping up on everything from dry cleaners to restaurants to anything that isn’t a franchise of a Dunkin or Panera, that are now empty. I just don’t understand how our “consumer” based economy will function with over 850,000 new initial claims every week and people that are leaving the employment seeking behind. And Starbucks raises their dividend Best Buy reports record sales increases while they’re closing many of its stores. I guess I just don’t get it!

WMT vs AMZN?

For Trading JULY 8th
JOLTs 5.4 vs. 5 Million
NVAX gets $1.6B from BARDA
Today’s market got off to a very soft start in the DJIA but not so much in the NASDAQ and S&P-500, with the DJIA starting off -240 and managing a rally only as far as -125 before spending several hours going sideways until the last hour of trading when the NASDAQ and S&P ran out of steam and fell below the close and the selloff resumed. It’s never a good thing when and overbought index makes a new all-time high and then closes down and on the lows. The DJIA was -396.85 (1.51%), NASDAQ -89.76 (.86%), S&P 500 -34.30 (1.08%), the Russell -26.89 (1.86%) and the DJ Transports -108 (1.1%). The internals were 3:1 down on NYSE and 2.5:1 on NASDAQ with volume on the NYSE 2:1 down also. The DJIA was 28 down and only 2 up with WMT the big gainer +55 DP’s and on the downside, BA-62, GS -55, and UNH -43DP’s. Even with the good JOLTs number, this market is just over-extended and tired. The stat I mentioned in tonight’s video about the S&P is very telling, I think, with the S&P only 2% off its high, the median S&P stock is down 11%. This market has simply gotten too narrow and it will correct.
We sold half of the remaining NEM 7/17 $60’s bought @ 1.55 and added to last Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94, and today’s sale was @ $3.20. They closed today $3.20. We also own a position in SLV 8/21 17 calls @ $ .74, and they closed $ .75, and we also added a spread using the NEM 8/65 / 70 calls at a $1.30 debit.

SECTORS: The FAANG names all finished near the lows, several like MSFT coming off a new all-time high and closing down on the day. Not a good sign if they follow-thru to the downside tomorrow. Also having trouble was CCL, who has had to cancel several cruises for Q4 and Q1 2021. It closed $14.57 -1.04 (6.7%). Add to that, the UAL report that it is giving warnings that it will be laying off “10’2 of thousands of employees.” UAL finished $32.55 -2.66 (7.55%). These two companies do not operate in a vacuum, so both groups are in jeopardy, again. Novavax (NVAX) got a $1.6billion grant from BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) to help it along in it’s search for a workable vaccine. The stock, up from $8 as late as the end of February had worked its way up to $85 last month and opened today $104 and traded as high as $111.77 and finished $104.56 +25.12 (31.63%). Don’t get too crazy with this one, this is not its first rodeo. In 2015 it was trading $300 before it had a failure on a different vaccine and the stock fell to $80 before a rally and then in the week of 9/16/2016 it fell further from $169.80 to $23.20 and then on to the adjusted (1:20 reverse) low around $4.00. We’ll hope for a better outcome this time around. Walmart was the big winner on a RECODE that said they are ready to launch Walmart +, to compete with Amazon Prime for same day grocery delivery and next day for other products. Its move today added 55 DP’s to the averages. I don’t think it’s a big deal since for the same money, with Prime you get streaming too. And the margins on groceries are razor thin.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was MIXED with TSN -.67, BGS +.70, FLO -.03, CPB -.11, CAG +.54, MDLZ -.22, KHC +.22, CALM +.03, JJSF -1.43, SAFM +.54, HRL -.14, SJM +.18, PPC -.34, KR -.03, and PBJ $31.56 +.06 (.19%).
BIOPHARMA was MIXED with BIIB - -1.72, ABBV +.72, REGN +14.50, ISRG -9.30, GILD -.13, MYL -.43, TEVA -.29, VRTX +8.35, BHC -.59, INCY +.86, ICPT -.74, LABU +3.36, and IBB $140.15 +.71 (.51%).
CANNABIS: was LOWER with TLRY -.13, CGC -.40, CRON -.19, GWPH +2.93, ACB +.17, CURLF -.07, KERN -.62 and MJ $13.08 -.01 (.08%).
DEFENSE: was LOWER with LMT -8.59, GD -3.29, TXT -1.73, NOC -7.89, BWXT -1.78, TDY – 7.84, RTX -2.12 and ITA $160.32 -6.10 (3.67%).
RETAIL: was LOWER with M +.03, JWN -.58, KSS -.72, DDS -.88, WMT +9.11 (7.66%), TGT -1.40, TJX -1.84, RL -2.49, UAA -.41, LULU -6.66, TPR -.51, CPRI -.18 and XRT $43.78 -.43 (.97%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were MIXED with GOOGL -7.40, AMZN -44.69, AAPL +1.06, FB -.91, NFLX +.69, NVDA +3.06, TSLA +9.42, BABA -2.60, BIDU -4.54, CMG -10.92, CAT -2.03, BA -8.57, DIS -.53 and XLK $106.34 -.77 (.72%).
FINANCIALS were LOWER with GS – 7.91, JPM2.52, BAC -.63, MS -1.32, C -1.53, PNC -3.15, AIG -1.36, TRV -2.45, AXP -3.48, V -3.13, and XLF $22.93 -.48 (2.05%).
OIL, $40.62 -.01. Oil was lower in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning. I mentioned in last night’s charts with comments section in the Weekly Strategies letter, prices are trying to work higher towards $45.00. We needed a close over the previous high close of $40.83 and while we were there, we sold off to close below that number. The stocks were higher with XLE $36.26 -1.19 (3.18%).
GOLD $1,809.80 +16.40. It was a continuation rally and a new recovery high OF $1807.70 Last night I said “we’ve moved $50 since the low on Friday and while the trend and momentum are positive, we may have to test 1790 to consolidate our gains.” Unfortunately, we pulled back to 1,767 instead. We rallied a bit and finished only slightly better. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. And, we also added a half position in NEM 7/17 60 calls @ $1.55, and additional 50% @ $1.30 on Friday. We sold half on the 100% Up Rule @ $2.94 and half of what was left today @ $3.20, we closed $3.20 + .80 today.
BITCOIN: closed $9,290 -65. After trading back to 8985 we rallied back to close – only $5. Since last week we have closed between 9200 – 92.85 every day with narrow ranges and today was a good start to move higher. A break over 10,000 still sends us higher. We added 350 shares of GBTC @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97. GBTC closed $9.76 - .19 today.

CSCO & LYFT MISS #s
Today’s market got off to a slightly higher start on the combination of CPI data and the futures, with all major indexes higher. The NASDAQ was the leader, by far, gaining almost the same point value as the DJIA on an index 60% smaller. At the close the DJIA was +289.93 (1.05%), NASDAQ +229.42 (2.13%), S&P 500 +46.66 (1.4%), the Russell +8.15 (.52%), and the DJ Transports +46.57 (.43%). Market internals were weak with the NYSE only 9:5 UP and the NASDAQ 9:7, and lower volume than yesterday. The DJIA was the same as yesterday, 23:7 but almost the entire gain was in 4 names, AAPL +100DP’s, HD & UNH +46 each, and MSFT +40DP’s while on the downside we had BA-32 and AXP -10DP’s.
Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows me to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. It is informative and allows me to share insights as the market is open and moving. The link is: https://discord.gg/ATvC7YZ and I will be there and active from before the open and all day. It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 3000 members. I also did this video over the weekend on a day-trade, (actually 2) that I made in AAPL on Friday. I think it’s highly informative as a guide to under what conditions these kind of trades in expiring options make sense. The link is https://youtu.be/qIV0G-hP3aM Enjoy!!
Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/3T8DnUEKNaY SECTORS: We didn’t have much corporate news today but after the close we had earnings from both CSCO and LYFT with both reporting losses and giving poor guidance. LYFT in particular was just full of bad news telling shareholders that if the Court of Appeals did not strike down the State of California’s ruling that requires their drivers to be considered employees, that they would suspend all operations in Calif., 16% of their total rideshare business. The stock, already down from its high of $88.60 traded as low as $29.75 and is currently $30.10 -.42. Cisco (CSCO) reported a loss and gave poor guidance and this is the glaring difference between “Old” tech and “New” tech. While CSCO has fallen from an all-time high of $76, and a recent high of $58 to close today $48.10 + .91, it traded down to $44.77 and is $45.04 -3.05 or 6.34%. “New” tech stocks like AMD, NVDA, and AVGO are all at new all-time highs and up triple-digits this year. The biggest news of the late day was the announcement that TESLA (TSLA) declared a 5:1 stock split. While this is really just straight arithmetic, it does create some demand for the shares now, since when the stock split becomes effective at the end of August you would have 5 times the shares at 1/5 of the price. But it does promote the purchase of “round lots” as opposed to “odd lots.” Does it really increase demand? Not really, but most stocks (like AAPL) do seem to rise on the news. TSLA certainly did, closing $1,554,76 +180.37 (13.1%). FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was HIGHER with TSN +.54, BGS +.53, FLO +.34, CPB +1.19, CAG +.75, MDLZ +.83, KHC +.72, CALM +.23, JJSF +.39, SAFM +.35, HRL +.62, SJM +2.25, PPC -.15, KR +.24, and PBJ $33.89 +.57 (1.69%).

CANNABIS: was LOWER with TLRY -.03, CGC +.32, CRON +.20, GWPH -.80, ACB -.17, NBEV -.01, CURLF +.23, KERN -.16, and MJ $12.78 +.12 (.95%).

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE PRICES ARE LATE MARKET QUOTES AND DO NOT REPRESENT THE 4:00 CLOSES.
FINANCIALS were LOWER with GS +1.03, JPM -.82, BAC -.21, MS +.57, C -.41, PNC -.47, AIG -1.28, TRV -1.06, AXP -1.59, V +.93, and XLF $25.24 -.07 (.28%).
OIL, $42.67 +1.06. Oil was higher in last night’s trading before we rallied in the morning on news of production cutbacks from Iraq. The stocks were HIGHER with XLE $38.58 +.38 (.99%).
GOLD $1,949 +2.70 was a dramatic sell-off taking the gold down as low as $1,874.00 before a rally back to $1,961. While I like the gold down here, I will have to see how it trades for a day or two. I am still a bull on the metal.
BITCOIN: closed $11,665 +230. After breaking out over $10,000 we have had a “running correction” pushing prices toward $12,000, reaching a recovery high of $12220 yesterday. We had added 350 shares of GBTC @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97, but sold 250 shares today @ $13.93. GBTC closed $13.11 +.56 today.

JPM Upgrades NKLA
Today’s market got off to a slightly higher start and spent the day between up and down 100 until the last hour when we rallied up to close +$177.10 (.68%), NASDAQ +148.61 (1.44%), S&P 500 +24.62 (.78%), the Russell +11.41 (.81%) and the DJ Transports +43.82 (.47%). Market internals were 1.4:1 in both NYSE and NASDAQ while volume was 3:2 up on the NYSE. DJIA was 22:7 up and RTX was unchanged. Volume was average. The continued weakness in the U.S. Dollar has had little effect on the market, but the commodities side has had a solid bid under it. The gold and silver are acting the way you would expect, making new recovery highs, but we are also seeing strength in any international market that is quoted in dollars. I expect this to continue and these markets to move higher. Deficits and continuing zero rates are a powerful influence.
We sold the balance of the remaining NEM 7/17 $60’s bought @ 1.55 and added to last Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94, and yesterday’s sale was @ $3.20, and today we took $4.30 for the balance. We also own a position in SLV 8/21 17 calls @ $ .74, and they closed $1.04, and we also added a spread using the NEM 8/65 / 70 calls at a $1.30 debit which closed $1.47.

GOLD, $1820.70 +10.70. After making a new recovery high of $1,829 we finished the day at another new closing high. I expect this move to continue to work higher to new highs. As I mentioned earlier in this note, the U. S. dollar continues to be supportive to higher prices of world commodities quoted in US$. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. For Trading April 1

For Trading April 1st
A Normal Day?
Late Selloff No Real Features
Today was as close to a normal day as any I’ve seen in the last 6 weeks. Futures were all over the place last night and opened to the downside this morning but before 10:00 we were back on the upside banging against the 2,640 level for the fourth day in a row. Support around 2,575 seems to be present and we rallied off it several times. However, today’s pickup to a slight new high for the week and closing on the low of the day leads me to the conclusion that we are running out of steam. This week’s range is a meager 95 S&P points, and the Friday close of $2,541 may be an important number. If we go no higher and get back into last week’s range (2191 to 2637) we can head back towards the area of a necessary, test of the current bottom (and I use that term with extreme caution). The volume continues to shrink daily, with the absence of the normal “end of quarter” rebalancing trading. Market internals were just okay with NYSE losers with a slight edge and NASDAQ 1:1. Volume was average for an average day, as were treasury prices. Most of the economic numbers are pre-COVID-19 and I think useless. The DJIA was considerably weaker than the market with 25 down and only 5 up. The only big (?) gainer was CAT on the news that the Great Orange might suspend or delay tariff charges, and it was up only $29 DPs. This has become an incredibly hard market to trade since the IV has become so extreme that if you want to trade an SPY position (as I did today) in order to make even a short-term trade the option prices are so absurd as to skew the risk to unreasonable levels. The example today was a simple one. At a price on the SPY around $259.50, the SPY 4/8 240 puts were $3.30…that’s a week from tomorrow, and $20 out of the money, for $3.30.If for any reason, volatility subsides, these thing will lose a major piece of its premium. If you’re right, and it happens fast, great, however, if it takes more than a day or two, to get started, or moves up, even though it’s not what I expect, it just withers away.
Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows me to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. SECTORS: Other names in the news: Since it’s late, I’m going right to two of my favorite topics: Today’s Disaster Du Jour was Amarin Corp (AMRN), a biotech that got an unfavorable ruling on patent litigation related to a potential generic version of Vascepa. The company said it will not affect worldwide patent protection. The stock received several downgrades from Oppenheimer, Goldman, and Stifel, and after closing $13.58 yesterday, it opened $4.22 and finished the day $4.00 -9.58 (70.54%)
On the upside we had two winners with Vivus (VVUS) introducing a remote monitoring platform for use when there is Social Distancing. VVUS is a long way down from its highs in the last decade but came to life today and after closing $ .95 yesterday with an open of $4.00 and finished the day $3.60 +2.65 (279%).
But the HOMERUN OF THE DAY goes to SGBX, maker of modular units for easy and quick construction received a MOU from Transcend Onsite Care to use their technology for container-based modules for medical care. After closing on Monday @ $2.06, it opened $3.80, traded $9.74 and closed $9.30 +7.24 (351.46%) before continuing higher in late trading hitting $12.75 and is currently $10.35.
BIOPHARMA: was MIXED with TEVA the big winner @ 8.87 +.36 (4.23%), REGN +13.90 (2.94%), VRTX +6.03 (2.06%) and LABU -1.09 (4.72%), and IBB $106.35 -2.;49 (2.29%),
CANNABIS: This group was MIXED CRON -.69 (10.88%) the biggest loser, while CURLF -.22 (5.3%) and MJ $11.40 -.15 (1.3%).
DEFENSE: was LOWER with RTN -10.23 (7.24%), UTX -4.25 (4.32%), NOC -12.73 (4.06%) and ITA $142.90-4.67 (3.16%).
RETAIL was LOWER with the group down across the board. M -.53 (9.87%), JWN -.69 (4.37%), KSS -1.60 (9.98%), DDS -4.23 (10.27%), WMT -2.00, TGT -3.68 (3.83%), TJX -1.33 (2.8%), RL -4.75 (6.68%), UAA -.51 (5.33%), LULU -6.56 (3.38%), TPR -.27, CPRI -.50 and XRT $29.78 -.24 (.80%).

FINANCIALS were LOWER with GS -7.12 (4.45%), JPM -4.75 (5.08%), BAC -1.07 (4.85%), MS -1.51 (4.33%), C -2.63 (6.57%), PNC -6.37 (6.31%), AIG -1.81 -1.81, TRV -5..59 (5.45%), AXP -6.14 (6.8%) and XLF $20.82 -.59 (2.76%).
OIL, $20.48 +.39. The stocks were MIXED even with the price of Oil trading higher. NBL was the big winner +.58 (10.92%), DNR -.18 (8.5%), and XLE $28.72+.10 (.35%).
METALS, GOLD: $1,596.60 -46.60 After the recent gains, Gold has failed to break through the highs around $1700 and have fallen back. I will reassess and look for a new entry point.
BITCOIN: closed $6475 + 95. We traded in another short range again today and finished mid-range on the day. While I want to add the 350 sold just over a week ago, I want to wait and see some stabilization. We still own 400 GBTC with an average of $8.06. GBTC closed $7.12 +.07 today.

New Records for NASDAQ
Today’s market got off to a roaring start with the carryover strength from our missed Friday and solid results in European and Asian markets. There were buyers in the big 5 names, like there have been everyday for the past month propelling the averages higher. The DJIA was a rather short-range day at just under 300 DP’s but finished +459.67 (1.78%), NASDAQ +226.02 (2.21%), S&P 500 +49.71 (1.59, the Russell +11.02 (.77%) and the DJ Transports +151.24 (1.64%). Market internals were 10:1 early but settled in to finish 2.2:1 on the NYSE and 2:1 on NASDAQ. The DJIA finished 28:2 with the leaders, as expected, GS +68, AAPL +67, BA +49 and several in the +32 to 34 DP’s. ISM numbers were back in expansion territory @ 57.1 vs. 49 est. and May’s 45.4.
We sold the CVS calls this afternoon since it has continued to underperform, and the NEM 7/17 $60’s @ 1.55 and added to last Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94 this morning. They closed today $2.40. We also added a position in SLV 8/21 17 calls @ $ .74, and they closed $ .76, and we also added a NEM bull spread using the August 65 / 70 calls @ $1.30.

SECTORS: The UBER purchase of Postmates (shopping and delivery service) for $2.65 billion was a positive for the stock, closing $32.52 +1.84 (6%), and the Berkshire purchase of Dominion Resources (D) was good for a gain of 2.43% for BRK but Buffett must have made a very good deal because D finished the day $73.59 -9.10 (11%). Workhorse (WKHS), a company that is manufacturing electric delivery vans, and was under $3 on June 1st followed with an 11-day move to $22.90, finally succumbed to gravity and fell back to close $17.61 -3.30 (15.78%) and fell to $16.01 in late trading to finish -4.90 on the day. Market internals were good with the NYSE A/D 3:1 and NAZ 2:1, while NYSE A/D volume was better than 5:1. Overall volume was about unchanged from Friday. Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/AeKKwW1lmKw SECTORS: The news of COVID-19 surges in cases to new highs has caused the states of both Texas and Florida to halt the progression of their re-openings. In fact, both states have closed bars since it is a place for younger people to gather and the 25 -39 group shows the biggest increases in cases. There are states that have seen increases of up to 300% from where they were when the re-openings began. For a look at how ALL the states are doing use this link: https://rt.live/ There were 2 stars in the market today; the obvious brightest star was Boeing (BA) on the strength of it starting FAA piloted flights of the 737 MAX for re-certification. The flights seem to be okay, but the flights are just the tip of the iceberg since all of the data now has to be analyzed. I’m sure it will be a little while before we hear anything substantive, but it was a start after over 440 days of grounding (March 2019). But buyers wouldn’t be stopped after the recent decline from the recovery high of $234 to close $170.01 Friday. The stock opened $181.65 and traded up to $194.50 before closing on the highs at $194.49 +24.48 (14.4%). The second star was FB, embroiled in the cancellation of ads but some of the world’s biggest and best companies due to racist and hate oriented content. Last Tuesday before the advertisers started pulling ads the stock had made a new all-time high at $245 but started lower the next day. On Friday Unilever and KO had pulled (adding to the list of medium sized firms) and the stock fell to $215. This morning Starbucks adding to the list and the stock fell to $207.11 before the market took off (see above) and by 10:45 it had crossed unchanged and kept moving to close $220.64 +4.56 (2.1%) but $13 from the low. We’ll have to see what it can do when it gets to supply between $224-226. Earning from two chip makers both beat, and both gave solid guidance. MU finished $52.11 +2.96 (6%), while XLNX was $98.47 +6.50 (7%). Simon Property Group (SPG) reaffirmed its earnings quoting the fact that 199 of their 204 properties across 37 states are open and operating. They also declared their dividend and added that they expect to pay $6.00 in cash for 2020. The stock had closed $68.13 +6.23 (10%) but rose further in late trading and was $72.52 + $439 or another 6.4%. In the financials, after the close several, (BAC, MS, C, and MS) all affirmed current rates while WFC said it will have to cut their payout. The stock fell about $ .25.

Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/5afUNy48sFI SECTORS: The FAANG names all finished near the lows, several like MSFT coming off a new all-time high and closing down on the day.

Consumer Confidence Jumps
BA Losing Orders
FEDEX Loss Sends the Stock Up
Best Quarter for DJIA Since Q1 1987
Today’s market got off to a soft start in the DJIA on the loss of several more orders for BA but it didn’t take long to stabilize and work back to unchanged while the NASDAQ & S&P 500 shot to the upside right out of the gate. At the close we were +217.08 (.86%), NASDAQ +184.61 (1.87%), S&P-500 +47.05 (1.54%), the Russell +20.16 (1.42%) and the Transports +120.08 (1.33%). Market internals were 9:5 on the NYSE and 2:1 on the NASDAQ. Volume was a little higher (window dressing) for the close of the quarter and the half. The DJIA was 27:3 with BA the biggest loser -11.19 or 76 DP’s and the gainers were MSFT & UNH +35, HD +30, GS +28 and AAPL +20 DPs. The Powell / Mnuchin visit to the Financial Services committee was a real snore. The statements were released yesterday and there were no surprises. All the Congressmen and women made their little speeches without actually asking any serious questions…so a typical day on the Hill. The consumer confidence # was 98.1 up from 85.9 and well above the 92 expected. Not so the Chicago PMI which went the other way at 36.6, up from 32.3, but well below the 45 estimates.
We added some CVS 7/67.50 calls on the decline with an average price of $1.16 and they finished $ .78, and the NEM 7/17 $60’s @ 1.55 and added to last Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94 this morning. They closed today $3.30. We also added a position in SLV 8/21 17 calls @ $ .74, and they closed $ .83.

SECTORS: The news of cancellations by Norwegian Air of 92 737 MAX and 5 787 was followed by another cancellation by BOAC. The stock was +14% yesterday but gave back almost half today. NVDA ran up with the rest of the chip names on the back of last night’s earnings from MU +4.8% and XLNX +7% with a close of $379.91 +11.91 (3.2%) and LCRX $323.46 +15.00 (4.87%). But the start today was TSLA. I will be doing a report over this week-end but the story is from Ark Invests Cathie Wood and she tells a GREAT story for Tesla. The stock finished the day $1079.81 +70.46 (3.2%). From a low of $350 in March, the gain is just under 210%, and the market value of the company has grown to $200 Billion. FEDEX reported after the close and had a loss of $1.28 vs $7.56 year ago and a slight miss on revenues. After missing 3 of the last 3 quarters numbers, expectations were low and after closing $140.22 +5.67, it ran to $153.01 +12.89 for a total gain for the day of almost $20.00 or 15%. Even though UPS has been able to raise prices and pick up some of the AMZN business that FDX dropped last year, FDX seems to be doing okay in e-commerce.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was HIGHER with TSN +..34, BGS +.04, FLO +.15, CPB +.40, CAG +1.57, MDLZ +.42, KHC +.24, CALM +.50, JJSF +2.56, HRL -.07, SJM +.73, PPC +.83, KR -.27, and PBJ $31.23 +.36 (1.17%).

GOLD $1800.50 +19.3. It was a continuation rally and a new recovery high and the highest close since $1931.70 in August 2011. We’ve moved $50 since the low on Friday and while the trend and momentum are positive, we may have to test 1790 to consolidate our gains. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. And, we also added a half position in NEM 7/17 60 calls @ $1.55, and additional 50% @ $1.30 on Friday. We sold half on the 100% Up Rule @ $2.94 yesterday and we closed $3.30 +1.18 today.
BITCOIN: closed $9,185 - 15. After trading back to 8985 we rallied back to close – only $5. Since last week we have closed between 9200 – 92.85 every day with narrow ranges. A break over 10,000 still sends us higher. We added 350 shares of GBTC last Wednesday @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97. GBTC closed $9.60 +.12 today.

BA Losing Orders
FEDEX Loss Sends the Stock Up
Best Quarter for DJIA Since Q1 1987
We added some CVS 7/67.50 calls on the decline the last couple days with an average price of $1.16 and they finished $ .78, and the NEM 7/17 $60’s @ 1.55 we added to last Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94 this morning. They closed today $3.30. We also added a position in SLV 8/21 17 calls @ $ .74, and they closed $ .83.

New Highs!

For Trading JUNE 24TH
New Highs For NASDAQ, AGAIN
Market Recovers From Navarro
Gold New Recovery High Close
Today’s market was a recovery from Mr. Navarro’s comment last night that the China trade deal was finished after Mr. Trump tweeted that it was in fact, still on track. Choose what you wish to believe, but the farmers aren’t happy with soybeans well off their highs. Anyway, we got passed that conflicting news and managed to trade higher with NASDAQ at another new all-time high again today. The only issue was the fact that we closed mid-range, well off the highs. The DJIA +131.14 (.50%), NASDAQ +74.90 (.74%), S&P 500 +13.43 (.43%), the Russell +5.84 (.41%) and the Transports managed an up day, +119.59 (1.32%) for the best gain of the day. Market internals were just barely positive with NYSE 4:3 and NASDAQ 6:5, and volume expanded by 30% on the NAZ. The DJIA was 16:14 Down with the big winners again, AAPL +53 DPs, UNH +33 and V +21, with IBM the only double-digit loser -12.
We added some CVS 7/67.50 calls on the decline with an average price of $1.16 and they finished $ .86, and the NEM 7/17 $60’s @ 1.55 and added to on Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94 this morning. They closed the day $2.30. Our position in VLO 7/17 65 calls @ $2.45 closed $2.55.

SECTORS: The news that DELL would be spinning off its stake in VMWare (VMW) to shareholders, a $50billion deal sent both stocks soaring after the close. Another disposal of a stake, this time Softbank’s position in T-Mobile (TMUS) looks like it will be a sizable windfall since TMUS closed at a new all-time high of $107.16 today, making it worth $32.6 billion. Russell & Transports Lead Decline
Today’s market was a debacle from the start and all day it just continued to get worse. The DJIA finished -710.16 (2.72%), NASDAQ -222.20 (2.19%), S&P 500 -80.96 (2.69%), the Russell, the biggest loser was -49.60 (3.45%) followed closely by the Transports -282 (3%). Volume was slightly lower than yesterday. All S&P sectors were lower with energy, financials, & industrials were the weakest while utilities were the least bad…I really hate to put it that way.
We added some CVS 7/67.50 calls on the decline with an average price of $1.16 and they finished $ .69, and the NEM 7/17 $60’s @ 1.55 and added to on Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94 this morning. They closed the day $1.99.

Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/BiGKoiGKXVw SECTORS: The news of COVID-19 surges in cases to new highs has set the market on its ear. There are now 9 “hot-spots” that include CA, AZ, TX, FL, MI, AR, WI, SC, NC., and NY, NJ, and CT have put travelers from those places on 14 quarantine. Later in the day NV started mandatory masks for everyone in casino/hotels. For a look at how ALL the states are doing use this link: https://rt.live/ Airline, cruise lines, hotels and resorts all took it on the chin on the news. As I mentioned in my video (link just above), there was an article in Barron’s online this evening talking about Southwest Air (LUV) having started a fare war. Not exactly the truth since they have 2 annual “Fare Sales” early in the year for summer travel and summer for holiday travel. But the article also mentioned Allegiant Air (ALGT) $107.89, a budget carrier with an all AIRBUS fleet and well positioned to compete in the coming cutthroat recovery. Their margins were 21% and the expected burn rate of only $2 million a month for Q2 turned cash-flow positive as of May. Definitely one to watch since it’s also very close to support around $100. SECTORS: The news of COVID-19 surges in cases to new highs has caused the states of both Texas and Florida to halt the progression of their re-openings.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was HIGHER with TSN +.97, BGS +.63, FLO +.75, CPB +.85, CAG +1.77, MDLZ +.78, KHC +.81, CALM +.68, JJSF +6.39, SAFM -.64, HRL +.13, SJM +2.07, PPC -.38, KR +1.39, and PBJ $30.87 +.54 (1.81%).

OIL, $39.70 +1.21. Oil was lower last night trading as low as $37.50 before we rallied well off those levels. I mentioned in last night’s charts with comments section in the Weekly Strategies letter, prices are trying to work higher towards $45.00. The stocks were higher with XLE $37.24 +.74 (2.03%).
GOLD $1781.20 + .90. It was a small pull-back after the strong rally of the end of last week, and after touching $1796 last week we turned back lower and tested $1754 before bursting higher Friday. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. And, we also added a half position in NEM 7/17 60 calls @ $1.55, and additional 50% @ $1.30 on Friday. We sold half on the 100% Up Rule @ $2.94 yesterday and we closed $2.12 today.
BITCOIN: closed $9,200 -20. GBTC closed $9.48 - .22 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

Goodbye Chuckie!

For Trading JUNE 26TH
Continuing Claims Decline Slightly
Market & Oil Reverse Higher
Good-bye Chuckie!
Today’s market was a bore with just an early continuation of the move lower on Covid-19 spikes. Futures were down well over 280 for the DJIA but a combination of economic news and the “fair value” overnight blunted the declines. We worked up thru most of the day but the real move came from 3:00PM when we went from unchanged to close near the highs +299.66 (1.18%), NASDAQ +107.83 (1.09%), S&P 500 +33.43 (1.10%), the Russell +23.57 (1.7%) and the Transports managed to gain 100.52 (1.13%). The DJIA had 22 up and only 8 were lower with no major losers and the gainers lead by GS +63, UNH +48 and AAPL +38DP’s. Market internals were 9:5 up on the NYSE and 2:1 on NAZ, and volume on the NASDAQ was actually down about 20%. Financials, Energy, Info Tech and materials lead the way while Utilities and Consumer discretionary were the laggards.
We added some CVS 7/67.50 calls on the decline with an average price of $1.16 and they finished $ .76, and the NEM 7/17 $60’s @ 1.55 and added to on Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94 this morning. They closed the day $1.98.
It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 1900 members. I also did this video titled “How to survive being an options trader and not blow up your account,” over the long weekend. I think it’s very informative as a guide to stock selection and option choices. The link is https://youtu.be/Y7H9RpWfLlo Enjoy!!
Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/ByEWVOLxlWU SECTORS: The news of COVID-19 surges in cases to new highs has caused the states of both Texas and Florida to halt the progression of their re-openings. While it doesn’t stop the phases that they are in, it does stop things from moving forward. There are states that have seen increases of up to 300% from where they were when the re-openings began. For a look at how ALL the states are doing use this link: https://rt.live/ Disney “characters” signed a petition in Florida to keep the park closed until there are actually declining numbers for the virus, something that has not started. Remember that DIS reopened the Disney Mall, just off the property. DIS is pushing back the openings both in Florida and California. In other news, Verizon (VZ) has put FB on notice that they are discontinuing their advertising on the site “indefinitely,” until FB gets a handle on hate-speech and other issues that the company finds objectionable. While there have been several smaller firms to pull ads, VZ is clearly the biggest. Albertsons, the grocery chain that was taken private priced their new IPO today. Reception by the street was so muted that they had to cut both price and size of the offering down to $800 million and priced the shares @ $16.00. The main reason for the distain is the fact that there is no money actually going to the company, but rather it all goes to the insiders who took the company private. Besides that, the insiders (current management) will still maintain control. Not the way new investors want to see the deal done. Last, I’ve written about Inovio (INO) for months now, starting when the stock moved from $3 to $6, and further when it went from $6 to $19 in just 2 weeks. The company makes a delivery system for the coming Coronavirus and the government has seen fit to finance the manufacturing, as announced earlier this week. Since Monday, when the stock closed $15.30, it has been on a tear closing $31.25 +7.38 or 31%. Today in extended hours it is now $34.54 +3.15 (10%) and the move for the first 4 days of the week is +$20 or just 133%. And just a quick note, CEC, the owner of Chuckie Cheese filed for bankruptcy. It intends to keep some stores open when it emerges from reorganization.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was HIGHER with TSN +.43, BGS +.31, FLO unch., CPB +.79, CAG -.10, MDLZ +.19, KHC -.28, CALM +1.65, JJSF +.29, SAFM -.22, HRL +.91, SJM -.50, PPC -.13, KR -.05, and PBJ $30.88 +.17 (.56%).
BIOPHARMA was HIGHER with BIIB -1.04, ABBV +2.51, REGN +14.92, ISRG +.15, GILD -.53, MYL +.26, TEVA +.10, VRTX +3.97, BHC -.02, INCY +1.62, ICPT +1.24, LABU +4.27 (7.23%), and IBB $138.27 +1.87 (1.37%).
CANNABIS: was MIXED with TLRY +.33, CGC -.21, CRON -.09, GWPH +3.47, ACB -.40, CURLF +.18, KERN +1.21, and MJ $13.20 +.03 (.23%).
DEFENSE: was HIGHER with LMT +1.23, GD +.51, TXT +.57, BWXT +.29, NOC -.16, TDY +.86, RTX -.47 and ITA $161.28 +.57 (.35%).
RETAIL was LOWER with M -.34, JWN -.64, KSS -76, DDS -.58, WMT -.70, TGT +.23, TJX -.73, RL -.33, UAA +.01, LULU -1.82, TPR -.05, CPRI -.21, and XRT $41.21 +21 (.51%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were HIGHER with GOOGL +8.41, AMZN +23.09, AAPL +4.79, FB -1.09, NFLX +7.25, NVDA +11.08, TSLA +30.31, BABA -3.83, BIDU +2.08, CMG +1.05, CAT +2.93, BA -2.68, DIS -1.57 and XLK $103.57 +1.30 (1.27%).
FINANCIALS were HIGHER with GS +1.92, JPM +1.36, BAC +.33, MS +2.45, C +1.72, PNC +1.48, AIG +.60, TRV +1.64, AXP +1.32, V +2.47, and XLF $23.20 +.22 (.96%). These stocks were higher but the FED news after the close on the stress test pared gains in late trading.
OIL, $38.72 +.71. Oil was lower this morning touching as low as $37.08 I had called $36.75-37 in this mornings video, and we rallied well off those levels. I mentioned in last night’s video that it appears that prices are trying to work higher towards $45.00 but it will have to reverse quickly. The stocks were higher with XLE $37.80 +.69 (1.86%).
GOLD $1770.80 -4.50. It was a small pull-back after the strong rally of the early part of this week, and after touching $1764 we turned back higher and closed mid-range. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. And, we also added a half position in NEM 7/17 60 calls @ $1.55, and additional 50% @ $1.30 on Friday. We sold half on the 100% Up Rule @ $2.94 yesterday and we closed $1.98 today.
BITCOIN: closed $9,280 -5. After trading back to 8985 we rallied back to close – only $5. A break over 10,000 still sends us higher. We added 350 shares of GBTC last Wednesday @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97. GBTC closed $10.14 -.06 today.
Tomorrow is another day.

Bitcoin 11 Years - Achievements, Lies, and Bullshit Claims So Far - Tooootally NOT a SCAM !!!!

That's right folks, it's that time again for the annual review of how Bitcoin is going: all of those claims, predictions, promises .... how many have turned out to be true, and how many are completely bogus ???
Please post / link this on Bitcoin (I am banned there for speaking the truth, so I cannot do it) ... because it'a way past time those poor clueless mushrooms were exposed to the truth.
Anyway, without further ado, I give you the Bitcoin's Achievements, Lies, and Bullshit Claims So Far ...
.
Bitcoin Achievements so far:
  1. It has spawned a cesspool of scams (2000+ shit coin scams, plus 100's of other scams, frauds, cons).
  2. Many 1,000's of hacks, thefts, losses.
  3. Illegal Use Cases: illegal drugs, illegal weapons, tax fraud, money laundering, sex trafficking, child pornography, hit men / murder-for-hire, ransomware, blackmail, extortion, and various other kinds of fraud and illicit activity.
  4. Legal Use Cases: Steam Games, Reddit, Expedia, Stripe, Starbucks, 1000's of merchants, cryptocurrency conferences, Ummm ????? The few merchants who "accept Bitcoin" immediately convert it into FIAT after the sale, or require you to sell your coins to BitPay or Coinbase for real money, and will then take that money. Some of the few who actually accept bitcoin haven't seen a customer who needed to pay with bitcoin for the last six months, and their cashiers no longer know how to handle that.
  5. Contributing significantly to Global Warming.
  6. Wastes vasts amounts of electricity on useless, do nothing work.
  7. Exponentially raises electricity prices when big miners move into regions where electricity was cheap.
  8. It’s the first "currency" that is not self-sustainable. It operates at a net loss, and requires continuous outside capital to replace the capital removed by miners to pay their costs. It’s literally a "black hole currency."
  9. It created a new way for people living too far from Vegas to gamble all their life savings away.
  10. Spawned "blockchain technology", a powerful technique that lets incompetent programmers who know almost nothing about databases, finance, programming, or blockchain scam millions out of gullible VC investors, banks, and governments.
  11. Increased China's foreign trade balance by a couple billion dollars per year.
  12. Helped the FBI and other law enforcement agents easily track down hundreds of drug traffickers and drug users.
  13. Wasted thousands if not millions of man-hours of government employees and legislators, in mostly fruitless attempts to understand, legitimize, and regulate the "phenomenon", and to investigate and prosecute its scams.
  14. Rekindled the hopes of anarcho-capitalists and libertarians for a global economic collapse, that would finally bring forth their Mad Max "utopia".
  15. Added another character to Unicode (no, no, not the "poo" 💩 character ... that was my first guess as well 🤣)
  16. Provides an easy way for malware and ransomware criminals to ply their trade and extort hospitals, schools, local councils, businesses, utilities, as well as the general population.
.
Correct Predictions:
  1. 2015-12: "1,000 dollar in 2015", u/Luka_Magnotta, aka time traveler from the future, 31-Aug-2013, https://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/1lfobc/i_am_a_timetraveler_from_the_future_here_to_beg/ (Technically, this prediction is WRONG because the highest price reached in 2015 was $495.56 according to CMC. Yes, Bitcoin reached $1,000 in 2013 and 2014, but that's NOT what the prediction says).
  2. 2017-12: "10,000 in 2017", u/Luka_Magnotta, aka time traveler from the future, 31-Aug-2013, https://www.reddit.com/Bitcoin/comments/1lfobc/i_am_a_timetraveler_from_the_future_here_to_beg/
  3. 2018-04: $10,000 (by April 2018), Mike Novogratz, link #1: https://www.bitcoinprice.com/predictions/, link #2: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-11-21/mike-novogratz-says-bitcoin-will-end-the-year-at-10-000

For Trading June 23rd

For Trading JUNE 23rd
New Highs For NASDAQ
Market Recovers from -210
Gold and Oil Higher
Today’s market was an ugly open -210 followed by a recovery, and a close near the highs of the day. The DJIA was +153.50 (.59%), NASDAQ +110.35 (1.1%), S&P 500 +20.12 (.65%), the Russell +14.89 (1.05, and the laggard, Transports -15.77 (.17%). Market internals were slightly positive at 1.2:1 on NYSE and 1.4:1 on the NAZ. Volume was good and about even in both directions. The futures had sold off pretty dramatically in late trading Friday, mostly for rebalancing and that was the overall influence early in the day today, but clearly it was overcome. The DJIA was split 16 up / 14 lower with the big leaders AAPL +63, MSFT +37, NKE +26 and UNH and HD +18 DP’s.
We added some CVS 7/67.50 calls on the decline with an average price of $1.16 and they finished $ .88, and the NEM 7/17 $60’s @ 1.55 and added to on Friday @ $1.30 for an average of $1.47 triggered a 100% Up Rule sale at $2.94 this morning. They closed the day $2.16.
Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/Uz52U2O-eqI
SECTORS: Airlines and cruise lines were lower early and spent the day going back and forth before closing near the lows on the news that AAL is going to have to raise more money (burn rate of $40million a month) to do nothing for the company but try to survive. To me, it is a sign of deep distress to have to raise billions of dollars just to survive when these companies would probably be better off chaptering. I realize that wouldn’t do anything for the equity holders, but they made their profits during the 8-year run that raised prices and fees, increasing profits for the companies who did absolutely nothing to plan for the future. Political correctness and misdeeds in the recent past were a problem for FB, who still continues to seem to have the attitude that they owe the public absolutely no explanation or carry any responsibility in what kind of advertising they accept, lost several more advertisers and the ire (correctly, I think) from the NAACP. The stock was the only FAANG stock to not participate in a rally that saw double-digit gains for most. It closed + .06. Some big winners today were SONO, maker of great speaker systems, who received a big upgrade from Citron (generally a “short” firm) who main man Andrew Left did a report that called for the acquisition by AAPL as a strong possibility. His pricing was $30, but the stock has never been over $23.60, so I’m not sure it needs to go that high. It finished the day $14.06 +2.20 (18%). Invitae Corp. (NVTA) was a star today announcing the purchase of a genetic testing firm, Archer D/X , and the news sent the acquirer higher by $8.34 to $27.05, or 44%. When they make sense, the market rewards them.
FOOD SUPPLY CHAIN was MIXED with TSN -1.48, BGS -.12, FLO -.39, CPB +.76, CAG +1.44, MDLZ -.21, KHC -.31, CALM +.41, JJSF -.42, SAFM -1.66, JJSF -.42, SAFM -1.66, HRL -.17, SJM -.17, PPC +.18, KR -.19 and PBJ $31.19 +.26 (.84%).
BIOPHARMA was HIGHER with BIIB -6.15, ABBV +.80, REGN -15.12, ISRG +1.43, GILD -1.54, MYL +.30, TEVA +.38, VRTX -.07, BHC +.06, INCY +4.59, ICPT +2.87, LABU +5.51, and IBB $138.14 +.29 (.21%).
CANNABIS: was MIXED with TLRY +.14, CGC +.01, CRON +.03, GWPH -3.86, ACB +.46, NBEV -.08, CURLF +.05, KERN -.48, and MJ $13.50 -.01 (.07%).
DEFENSE: was HIGHER with LMT +5.80, GD -3.12, TXT -.01, NOC +2.90, BWXT +.36, TDY +4.68, RTX +.68 and ITA $169.73 +1.12 (.96%).
RETAIL was HIGHER with M +.25, JWN +.31, KSS -.18, DDS +.21, WMT +2.55, TGT +2.19, TJX +.36, RL +1.95, UAA +.12, LULU +8.61, TPR +.50, CPRI +.15, and XRT $43.05 +.94 (2.24%).
FAANG and Big Cap: were HIGHER with GOOGL +27.56, AMZN +48.49, AAPL +12.48, FB +.06, NFLX +15.05, NVDA +11.79, TSLA -1.90, BABA +1.71, BIDU +.17, CMG +61.44, CAT -.76, BA +.73, DIS +2.47, and XLK $104.57 +2.61 (2.56%).
FINANCIALS were MIXED with GS +3.27, JPM -.51, BAC -.51, MS +.76, C -.54, PNC +2.05, AIG +.20, TRV +1.00, AXP -.79, V +3.70, and XLF $23.71 -.12 (.59%).
OIL, $40.73 + .90. Oil was under pressure early in the day but managed to rally and close near the highs. I mentioned in tonight’s video that it appears that prices are trying to work higher towards $45.00. The stocks were higher with XLE $39.60 +.53 (1.36%).
GOLD $1766.40 +13.40. It was a clean breakout today after a rally last night, a fall to unchanged in the morning and then a hard run all the way up to $1,779 before a close in the upper part of the range. We bought back the 3rd and final lot of NEM @ $58.86. And, we also added a half position in NEM 7/17 60 calls @ $1.55, and additional 50% @ $1.30 on Friday. We sold half on the 100% Up Rule @ $2.94 this morning.
BITCOIN: closed $9,585 +270. After trading back to 9,300 we rallied to new slightly higher ground. A break over 10,000 still sends us higher. We added 350 shares of GBTC last Wednesday @ $10.02 to our position of 400 @ $8.06, bringing our average price to $8.97. GBTC closed $10.58 + .27 today.
Tomorrow is another day.
